Well Connected

Lock

Gravesend, the historic gateway to London’s famous river, is on the South bank of the Thames, approximately half way between Tower Bridge and the Thames estuary.

Gravesend is exceptionally well connected to London and the Continent. High-speed rail, HS1, from Gravesend station to London St Panncras via Stratford takes 24 minutes. London Bridge is 47 minutes via National Rail. Eurostar trains from nearby Ebbsfleet International provide fast, direct links to Europe. Three motorways, the M2, M20 and M25 are within four miles.

Access to the Thames

The Embankment Marina is linked to the Thames by a single lock gate. Downstream, Chatham and the historic City of Rochester Upon Medway are 26 miles away by sea.

Upstream, Tower Bridge is 23 miles. The Marina and our moorings provide an excellent stop-over or base to explore the Thames en-route to London.

By Train

National Rail: Frequent trains to London Bridge and Charing Cross. High Speed Trains: HS1 trains run through Gravesend station (15 minutes walk) to Stratford and St Pancras.

UNDERGROUND UNDERGROUND

Coach / Bus

Coach: Several local coach operators run commuter routes into London and tourism outings into Kent. Bus: Local buses cover the surrounding area including services to Bluewater, one of Europe's largest shopping centres, 5 miles away.

By Car

Walking or Cycling

The Marina is on Cycle Route 1 and Saxon Shore Way. The route passes over our beautiful Victorian designed bridge which spans the lock barrel. There are pleasant rides and walks along those routes and into the Kent countryside to the south.

Friends of the Marina
